Fresh Fish from Rye's Fishing Fleet |
|
In medieval times, Rye Bay fish (herring, mackerel, cod, sole, plaice
and whiting) were reserved for the king’s table, and the area remains a
foodie haven where those in the know flock for Romney Marsh lamb, local
cheeses, fresh fish and the fruit and vegetables that prosper in the
gentle southern fields and orchards.

The George in Rye |
Webbe's at The Fish Cafe |
|
The George Grill and our Bar are temples of all day dining, serving a
modern European menu with a sunny, Mediterranean slant.
At the heart of the kitchen is a wood-charcoal grill, where Head Chef
Andrew Billings and his team fast-cook seafood just caught from Rye Bay,
local meats and vegetables.

A vibrant lively café atmosphere with an open plan kitchen area where
you can see being created. For serious diners and families alike. "The
menu at this newcomer deals in a bounty of the sea and there is shrewd
workmanship in the steamed panache of fish and shellfish with a textbook
saffron sauce” The Times
